October 2008 QUOTE OF THE MONTH: "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." - John Muir, Submitted by Dana Dizon, Richmond High School

Yet Never

Righteously I glide in my car,
My computer,
My air conditioning,
My everything,
(My life)
Aware yet unaware
Of the consequences I will someday reap.
I want to change!
No
I want others to change,
I want them to start
For me
I am afraid,
A follower.
I wait.
And though I criticize.
I am truly no better!_
I am a sheep.
I want every car to be fuel-efficient,
I want a recycling bin in every restaurant, store and
Street corner.
I want scientists to spend their time
Finding a way to convert trash to their original elements,
Not making weapons of mass destruction!
I wish there were some sort of government program to make this possible.
(after all, one country has to swallow their pride to save the world)
I want it all to go away!
To change,
Because
I don't think I can
Manage to make
A ripple
In the huge puddle
That is society.
I am too afraid.
I am too much dependent,
And not enough independent.
So now, I sit
Silently, waiting
Knowing clearly what will greet me.
If I continue on this branch.
Not branch, too ironic!
Road?
No
Highway? _perfect.
I wait.
And maybe someday
Some faraway day-
No.
Some day so much sooner
People will stare
Into that charcoal grey mass,
Called "the sky".
And they will wonder
What would have been?
What should have been?
and yet never came to be?
(because of people like me)
