Welcome To My World

Welcome to this world
Welcome to my home
Welcome to my place that I can call my own
This is where I stand
This is where I live
Got so much more that I need to give
Back to the community
So, people, take the time to just stop and look around
Stop and pause, think about the world
Think about all the problems for these little boys and girls
The struggles that they face
Discrimination of their race
Hate and pain growing inside them
There's nowhere to hide them
They have no choice but to turn to violence
By the influence that's all around them
Gun shots heard at night
Daddy's abusing mommies, which is clearly not right
Being born in a world with no purpose to live
Only more reason to just take and not give
The environment that surrounds them
The media influences the young mind
The message they send that boys and girls
Need to fit into this world
The way they have to dress, the way they have to act
The things they gotta do to fit into their world
The world of poverty
But that world means nothing to you or me
Because everything's all good, where we live in a neighborhood, not jus "da hood"
This whole other world filled with indifference
Where people can hear you, but they don't really listen
Too caught up in their safe, beautiful world
The money they spend everyday
Spent on material things
All their selfish wants
Living in a world filled with bliss
Not noticing the amount of money they wear
Both these worlds truly unfair
How one has to suffer as the other one relaxes
Only worried about the fly clothes of their backs
Wait - pause go back to reality
There are no two worlds, we only live in ONE
And yet these 2 places seem galaxies away
The way they live their lives day by day
We only gotts one world, we only needs one world
Make the best of it
Stop the violence, stop the hate
Stop the discrimination and start over with a clean slate
Share the wealth, share the love
Share the given gifts sent from up above
Combine the 2 worlds to protect this one world
It doesn't hurt to try to make a difference
Don't just sit there pretending to listen
This is MY world, the world I want to see
The world of equality
Where we're content with everything that we'll ever need
This is my imaginary world, my imaginary dream
One that I'm hoping will one day come true
But really the decision is up to you.
