We Are Connected

By Michael Rapadas

To the Earth, Ocean, and Wind; I am connected.
The over powering forces that over take my human simplicity.
Do I feel inferior to these powerful 'beings'?

The Earth, dynamic in every aspect.
In color, feel, and softness.
One time it will be hard as stone, and other times as soft as clouds.
The Earth of the beach takes me over by letting my sink into it.
I am connected.

The Ocean, and how the waves move in a "peaceful-violence".
The only world where I can accept anger as beauty and phenomenon.
First, the waves appear to be surging in to attack me.
Then welcome me as they approach the shore slowly and smoothly.
The Ocean welcomes me, therefore I am connected.

The Wind speaks to me.
Not only through my ears, but also through my skin and hair.
It brushes every sense of mine, and integrates me into itself.
The Wind and waves both speak as if in conversation,
And that interaction, I am immersed in, therefore I am connected.

Nature trusts me; I am welcomed.
It does not hesitate to communicate with me.
I cannot speak back with words, but only with the
God-given ability of interconnectedness with my World.
God in nature, God in me, we are connected.
