things you are doing in your home to improve energy

winter?

One thing that I am doing at home
to conserve energy efficiency is to turn off all
electricity powered appliances when they are not
in usage. This constant routine saves money for
my family and keeps my grandmother especially
happy...=]

your school doing to encourage YOU to recycle?

there?

My school's earth club
is encouraging our school to start a recycling
program. Recycling bins are placed in every classroom
and the contents are collected often. Other than
that, I'm not sure what else is being done at
my school.
-Matt Parker - Grade 11, Alhambra HS
Two science teachers from our school calculated
the amount of waste produced weekly in our entire
school (K-12). They showed us a powerpoint at
assembly to educate us about how easy it is to
recycle and compost, and also created a game,
in which students from different grade levels
compete on stage to sort out a big bag of trash
into the appropriate waste baskets. The students
who sort most accurately win. Now we have compost
and recycling binsall around the school. Additionally,
we use compostable forks and containers in our
school lunch program. -Alexis
